The Best of Friends
The evidence for harmony may not be obvious in some families. But it seems that four out of five young people now get on with their parents, which is the opite of the popularly-held image(形象)of unhappy agers locked in their room after endless family quarrels.
An important new study into age attitudes surprisingly shows that their family life is more harmonious than it has r been in the past.“We were surprised by just how itive today’s young people seem to be about their families,” said one member of the research team. “They’re expected to be rebellious(叛逆的)and selfish, but actually they he other things on their minds: they want a car and material goods, and they worry about wher school is serving them well. There’s more negotiation(商议)and discussion between parents and children, and children expect to take part in the family decision- process. They don’t want to rock the boat.”
So it seems that this generation of parents is much more likely than parents of 30 years ago to treat their children as friends.“My parents are happy to discuss things with me and willing to listen to me," says 17-year-old Daniel Lazall. “I always l them when I’m going out clubbing. As long as they know what I’m doing, they’re fine with it.” Susan Crome, who is now 21, agrees. “Looking back on the last 10 years, there was a lot of what you could call negotiation. For example, as long as I’d done all my homework, I could go out on a Saturday night. But I think my grandparents were a lot stricter with my parents than that.”
Maybe this itive view of family life should not be unexpected. It is sible that the idea of age rebellion is not rooted in real facts. A researcher comments,“Our surprise that agers say they get along well with their parents comes because of a brief period in our social history when agers were regarded as different beings. But that idea of rebelling and breaking away from their parents really only happened during that one time in the 1960s when ryone rebelled. The normal situation throughout history has been a ooth change from ing out with the family business to taking it over.”
67. What is the popular image of agers today? A. They worry about school.
B. They dislike living with their parents. C, They he to be locked in to oid troubles. D. They quarrel a lot with other family members.
68. The study shows that agers don’t want to__________ . A. share family responsibility B. cause trouble in their families C. go boating with their family D. make family decisions

A. Negotiation in family. B. Education in family. C. Harmony in family. D. Tee trouble in family.

根据一段第二句“It is sible that the idea of age rebellion is not rooted in real facts.”

Our brains work in complex and strange ways. There are some people who can calculate the day of the week for any given date in 40,000 years, but who cannot add two plus two.Others can perform complex classical piano pieces after hearing them once, but they cannot read or write.
I took lee to consider this matter settled.
1.迅速将整篇文章分解,理出文章结构;
2.迅速抓住文章叙述的主题;
一般段为主题段,也就是说,整篇文章要表达的主题一定会出现在这里,你要做的就是迅速把中心句找出来,一般来说,中心句会出现在倒数第2句或第1句,简单一点的文章会在第1句就出现,如果考题出得比较难,也可能需要自己总结,但就算需要自己总结中心句,也一定能在该段落中找出代表中心意思的词;
接下来第二、三、四段,各段将对段提出的主题意思进行论述或分步骤分析,也就是说,每个段落都会有进阶的主题,即个各分论点,所以你要做的同样是迅速把它们找出来,位置和方法相同;

Reading is a pleasure of the mind, which means that it is a little like a sport: your eagerness and knowledge and quickness make you a good reader. Reading is fun, not because the writer is ling you soming, but because it makes your mind work. Your own imagination works along with the author's or n goes beyond his. Your experience, compared with his, brings you to the same or different conclusions, and your ideas dlop as you understand his.
Every book stands by itself, like a one-family house, but books in a library are like houses in a city. Although they are separate, toger they all add up to soming; they are connected with each other and with other cities. The same ideas, or related ones, turn up in different places; the human problems that repeat themselves in life repeat themselves in literature, but with different solutions according to different writings at different times.

Like most people, I was brought up to look upon life as a process of getting. It was not until in my late thirties that I made this important discovery: giving-away makes life so much more exciting. You need not worry if you lack money. This is how I experimented with giving-away. If an idea for improving the window display of a neighborhood store flashes to me, I step in and make the suggestion to the storekeeper. One discovery I made about giving-away is that it is almost imsible to give away anything in this world without getting soming back, though the return often comes in an unexpected form. One Sunday morning the local t off delivered an important special delivery letter to my home, though it was addressed to me at my off. I wrote the t a note of appreciation. More than a year later I needed a t-off box for a new business I was starting. I was told at the window that there were no boxes left, and that my name would he to go on a long waiting list. As I was about to lee, the t appeared in the doorway. He had overheard our conversation. “Wasn’t it you that wrote us that letter a year ago about delivering a special delivery to your home?” I said yes. “Well, you certainly are going to he a box in this t off if we he to make one for you. You don’t know what a letter like that means to us. We usually get nothing but complaints.”

2)多重并列句,一般并列句可以用and来连接,另一种是肯定否定形式的并列句,比如:not……but , not only……but also, but 和but also 后面的才是作者强调的。
This is of great importance. 倒装为 : Of great importance is …… of great 是形容词变名词。
6)比较结构 more……than 在more之后才是重点 , less……than 在than后面的是重点.
ppetite for aenture over the love of ease

None of these words can give one a full mark. What about money or prayer(祈祷)? They can’t , either.

The first secret of happiness is to enjoy the things in life. Too often, we spend so much time thinking about the future —for example, getting into college or getting a good job —that we fail to enjoy the present. You should enjoy life’s pleasures, such as reading a good book, listening to your forite music, or spending time with close friends. People who he sral close friends often live happier and healthier lives.
Another secret to living a happy life is to be active, and he hobbies where you forget your problems and time. Many people experience this dancing, or playing a sport, such as swimming.
